The Spanish Agency of Medicines and Health Products has presented its Strategic Plan 2019-2022 that includes a total of 11 measures that aim to face the challenges and strengthen the entity during the next four years. Specifically, the Aemps has defined five strategic objectives to achieve through this plan.
The 11 measures developed by the Management Board of the Aemps include a people plan, management plan by objectives, implementation of the Office of Innovation and Knowledge on Drugs, plan of information systems, external communication, transfer of knowledge to the EAMI Network, for internal knowledge management, improvement of the interdepartmental processes, international positioning, supply guarantees for medicines and another for strengthening institutional coordination.
These plans have different strategic approaches that go through optimizing the template; manage quality; improve efficiency; develop critical resources and capabilities; social impact, transparency and communication; improve the positioning of the Aemps; develop critical resources and capabilities; and improve user satisfaction and simplify processes.
Strategic objectives
To develop this plan, the Aemps has defined five strategic objectives. The first one is focused on providing guarantees, that is, guaranteeing to the public the quality, safety, efficacy, availability and information of medicines and health products, as well as the quality and safety of cosmetics and personal care products. . This line is framed by plan number 10, which refers to the supply of medicines.
Second, there is customer orientation. In this case, the Aemps aims to increase transparency, accessibility and user satisfaction. The third objective refers to the social impact, that is, to create value for society, Aemps being recognized as a national and international reference by interest groups, and promoting research.
Another strategy is efficiency, thus improving economic and organizational management. At this point, the agency includes workload management, simplifying operational processes, budget management, improving competitiveness and costs of activities. And, finally, the development of capabilities, which involves improving the resources of the Aemps through the development of people, technology and strategic alliances.
