On 23 May, part of the Distefar team attended the biomedical research technology platform.
The opening was a conference by Juan José Vaquero, entitled “Strategy for greater public-private collaboration in research”.
He highlighted Spain’s important work in scientific production, which according to the CYD Foundation is ranked 11th, in contradiction to Innovation, where we are far behind in 28th place according to the OECD and 30th according to WIPO.
Mr. Juan José Vaquero, commented on the need for transversal communication between the different actors involved in biomedical research such as: Pharmaceutical industry, health authorities, research centres, researchers and patients, achieving a bidirectional communication and going even deeper in which he highlighted the key word that was repeated in all the round tables the need for these participants to form an ECOSYSTEM.
This was the word repeated by all the round tables, as they are:
Strategy for the promotion of collaboration in pre-clinical research.
Digital transformation strategy in biomedical research.
Strategy in advanced therapies.
The day was very enriching, with almost all attendees taking the same direction:
– Decentralisation of clinical trials, so that smaller hospitals that do not have the capacity to conduct a full trial can join with other similar hospitals and have a certain common strength.
– Decentralisation of these trials, to make life more comfortable for patients who have to move for the years required for the trial and who can be followed up in the long term closer to home.
– The creation of an Ecosystem in which all the actors mentioned at the beginning should be involved, with understanding and alignment.
