The Health Institute Carlos III (ISCIII) has announced that, through European programs, has “about five million euros” to participate in the latest calls open by the European Union (EU) to finance various projects of research, among which are those related to Personalized Medicine.
To this ISCIII funding are added “around three million euros more offered by other entities,” says the same institution. “This economic endowment opens the opportunity for Spanish institutions to obtain funding for different research projects related to Personalized Medicine, neurodegenerative diseases, biomarkers of brain diseases, antimicrobial resistance, rare diseases, cardiovascular diseases, systems medicine and nanomedicine, among others”, Add.
Thus, for this type of projects “4.6 million euros of funds from the Strategic Action in Health 2019 are planned. To this endowment we must add 2.7 million euros from other Spanish financiers”, highlights the ISCIII. The Personalized Medicine projects are framed in the ‘ERA PerMed’, coordinated by the Institute, which also has the support of the Center for Technological and Industrial Development, the Government of the Autonomous Community of Navarre, the Ministry of Health of the Government of Catalonia and the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC).
Goal of Era PerMed
“The budget for Spanish institutions amounts to 2.35 million euros, whose call was opened on January 9 and the deadline for submission is next March 7,” says the Institute. The objective of this transnational call of ‘ERA PerMed’ “is to promote research and innovation activities by creating close links between basic biomedical research, clinical research, bioinformatics, epidemiology, socioeconomic research, as well as research on integration of Personalized Medicine in clinical practice and on the ethical, legal and social implications “, concludes the ISCIII.
